Tortuguero town is a quite unique village as no roads connect the area to the main Costa Rican road system. This makes this village surrounded by water to be a quiet, and different place.
As you arrive in the town, the Caribbean colors in the houses will strike you. Afterward, as you walk around the town, you may want to stop at one of the numerous souvenir stores, the art crafts stands, and the grocery stores of the place.
Your tour guide will explain a bit about the town and the people who live in it, to go afterward to the CCC. The Caribbean Conservation Corporation, an organization that allows volunteers from all over the World to come and work for the giant sea turtles and has a museum with all the history of the region.
