Looking for a short but informative activity? The Frog Pond located in Monteverde is perfect for families and nature lovers.
The Monteverde Frog Pond is a place run by biologist, conservationists and nature guides. Their main objective is to present an educational experience to everyone who visits the site by creating opportunities to learn and interact with these animals changing the attitudes some people have towards these beautiful animals.
This is a chance to see and admire more than 28 species of native frogs, toads and other amphibians living in large, naturally simulated terrariums which simulated the natural habitat of each species. This condition allows them to live and reproduce as if they were in nature while we learn from them and admire their beautiful colors.
Within the species that live in the terrariums, you may find the poison arrow frog, the Blue-Jeans poisonous frog, the hourglass frog, the Red-Eyed frog, the crowned frog, the leopard frog as well as the cane toad and the marine toad. In the natural history exhibition, you may learn more about these and other species.
After dark visits are very popular as the frog are usually more active and vocal at night and also the fact that the whole exhibition is in-doors provide an excellent option on rainy days.
